CP5070 Chemical Product Design & Development

Hi Learners,

This is the main blog that you need to help you in documenting your work (INDIVIDUAL & PROJECT) for Chemical Product Design and Development (CP5070) Module for the Diploma in Chemical Engineering (DCHE) in Singapore Polytechnic.

You will find example of documentation (MOLDING) that consist of:

1. Workflow in preparing and using software (Autodesk Fusion 360) and/or equipment/tools.

2. Reflection in learning.

Why document on the go?

Imagine that one day you need to reproduce all of your assignments/works. If you did not document your work, you will spend a lot of time to find and figure out what you have done and likely you can't find your previous work. But if you have document all of them in detail, you can reproduce your work easily and you can showcase this as your portfolio when you apply for internship or job.

Dos and don'ts of documenting your work:

  1. Autodesk FUSION360 Design files must be present in the blog archive in generically readable forms such as F3D and DXF or STL.
  2. Externally host your files (in google drive or dropbox etc) and link to them (discuss with your lecturer first) if the file size is too big.
  3. Acknowledge work done by others. Do not use others work and claim them as yours.
  4. Take photos, videos, notes and screenshots as you work - compress and resize your images for web. Use these to explain and describe what you do. A ‘hero shot’ is the best photo showing your finished work.
  5. Always include hyperlinks of all the works that you refered to. If it is a youtube video, embed the youtube video in your blog.
  6. The base-line for the content in the blog is to show about what you did and how you did it.
IMPORTANT, DIE DIE MUST FOLLOW!!!
1. Every screencapture of work in FUSION360 must include your initial/name on the top right corner as shown below.

TIPS TO COMPRESS VIDEOS:
1. Use HANDBRAKE software and select the compression for 480p or maximum 720p.
2. Is the sound an important aspect of the video? if not, you can remove the sound in HANDBRAKE software to make the video file size even smaller.

TIPS TO COMPRESS IMAGES:
1. Images taken using HP camera has size of at least 2MB which can take up much space in your documentation. This images can be compressed to 20% of the original file size without losing much of the details. You can use this webbased image compression called IMAGECOMPRESSOR

Below is an example of a FUSION360 design file embedded into the blog. Please follow the video guide in BB on how to do it so that you can embed all your FUSION360 design files into your blog.
